The spark that started the fire of Stacey Heritage Photography
Portraits at the Farm
So blogging. What should I blog about? I have been reading, googling, daydreaming, doodling, etc. Apparently my first blog should be personal. Do I need to share my life story, that seems a bit overwhelming? After really digging deep, I have decided to share my first experience with portraits at a place we, my family, call the Farm.
My grandparents invested in this Pennsylvania property when my dad and his brothers were very little. (I am pretty sure there were a few dinosaurs still roaming the land). The best way to describe the land is peaceful. There is an old farmhouse, remnants of a stone barn, old stone walls that would house cows, fire-pits, hills, and stars as far as the eye can see. We build fires, big beautiful fires. We dance in the rain and bundle up in the snow. When it’s cold, the house is heated solely using a wood burning stove. When it is warm we hang out in the woods for shelter from the sun. The trails can be walked or driven with quads. The vibes are good, really good.
The Farm, near Scranton, is frequently visited for a life recharge. My uncles have worked very hard to keep the old house viable and you can feel it with every visit. The togetherness is something to cherish. I love our Heritage.
In 2013, my youngest cousin requested that I take her senior portraits at the Farm. Wait, what??? I had never done portraits. I had a few years of photography experience, but not in portraiture. Could I even pull it off?
Seven years later, I am in love with portrait photography.
My photography skills are growing every day. Thank you for reading!
